Susan started her art career by going with her father to his evening art classes at the University of Florida and began painting oil paintings with him at only seven years old. By 13 years old she had her own one woman show in Moreno Valley, California’s Fine Arts Festival. Her work at that time also won her a Medalist Award in the National Scholastic Art Contest in New York. This contest of 8000 art works from students in 42 states was sponsored by Grumbacher. She was only one of 52 young artists in the state of California to receive this prestigious award. At 14-16 years old, while living in Turkey for 2 years, Susan studied with the leading artist weekly perfecting her drawing skills and more oil painting. Through high school she continued her art showing and winning in many art shows expanding into Pastels, Charcoals and Pen & Ink. In her senior year she won a scholarship to a prestigious girls College for a degree in art. But as fate would have it, her life path shifted to follow her life long horse dreams by attending California Polytechnic University and studying Animal Science and Pre Veterinary studies and devoting her time to the Olympic and World Cup Dressage Level. Susan has been a horse trainer and riding coach for 38 years while painting occasionally. Now in her golden years Susan is returning to the art work with the wisdom and insights gathered seeing the world through different and experienced eyes. Look for her work in the Summer of 2010
